Building the workshop

One of the priorities for moving here was to have a workshop.

The original large old shed was unsafe and not insulated, so that had to be demolished and a new building created. The same system was used as for the observatory, where by Mike and Tina could do it with the minimum of help.

The frame was built working from one end, adding in the window and door frames as it progressed. The whole was then wrapped in a waterproof membrane and cladded on the outside.

We employed two people who had helped with the interior of the house to put on the roof.

Inside the walls were insulated before the plasterboard put in, wiring, lighting and flooring ready for all the equipment to be reinstated.

All of this took just over a month.

The final piece was to replace the old concrete slabs with patio bricks. This was also contracted out, but very nicely finished by Mike’s hexagonal planters and cladding around the oil tank.
