Track Layout
The main things we wanted in our layout was a village, with buildings etc, the slate mine. and a separate track on the mine for the small diesel train pulling the slate trucks. Between these two areas would be a stretch of countryside which would have something like a small farm, fields and a small lake.
However we soon realised that his track did not allow the trains to travel in any directions so we needed two reversing loops
The gap between these reversing loops was the smallest possible so that we had the largest areas for both of the main areas. The incline from the front to back, to allow for the viaduct we wanted, was set by the greatest incline possible of the 009 train. On these short loop sections.
Now these areas were defined, we would separately plan the village and slate mine areas.
